Part-time Senior Finance Officer (VPS 5)

A rewarding opportunity exists for a Senior Finance Officer at the Victorian Inspectorate (VI). The VI is the lead oversight body in Victoria’s integrity system, providing oversight of the Independent Broad-based Anti-corruption Commission (IBAC) and other integrity, accountability and investigatory bodies (integrity bodies) and their officers.

The position requires a degree in finance or accounting and CPA/CA membership, a sound knowledge of the Financial Management Act 1994 and its Standing Directions, and demonstrated experience in Victorian Government finance, accounting and auditing practices.

Job Overview

The Senior Finance Officer provides expert advice to ensure the VI’s financial processes, monitoring and reporting all meet government finance and Australian accounting standards and coordinates and/or drafts all internal finance reporting and budget forecasting.

The Senior Finance Officer will play a key role in leveraging financial services through a Memorandum of Understanding with a government department, ensuring both the efficacy of that model and respectfully maintaining the VI’s independence. On occasions the position may be required to provide assistance with procurement and or contract management activities in terms of analysing costings and funding available. The position also manages a part time Administration Officer, Finance position to ensure that all financial administration activities are delivered.

The position is part time (0.6 FTE) and fixed term to 30 June 2023. The VI can accommodate hybrid working arrangements and flexibility with hours for this position by negotiation and agreement in line with business needs.
