Ocado Group Hiring for Finance Analyst – Central Logistics Job at Hatfield, East of England, England Full Time

Ocado has developed a world-leading grocery platform in the UK and more recently selling and operating the platform for retailers inside and outside the UK. Ocado has been working with Morrisons since 2013 licensing technology, logistics, and distribution services to enable Morrisons to launch and develop its online grocery business. More recently Ocado has signed various international partnerships which will use Ocado’s unique, proprietary and industry-leading technology. In February 2019 Ocado announced a new 50/50 joint venture with Marks and Spencer that will transform online grocery shopping in the UK.

We are pleased to be recruiting a Finance Analyst to come and join us on a permanent basis.

You will be a key member of the Operations Finance team providing financial support to the various teams in Logistics. Providing key business insight to the senior management teams and stakeholders. You will also supply periodic reporting, budgeting, and forecasting of the Central Logistics function.

We are currently in phase 2 of our transformation. You will evolve current ways of working and improve the financial processes and develop reports and analysis to give insight into the cost base.

Some of the things you can expect in role:

• Providing value adding financial insight, support and challenge to the Logistics Support teams, by building effective working relationships at all levels, including senior managers and with other departments in the business
• Play an active role and own parts of the operational annual Budget and quarterly Forecast process, understanding key drivers for cost variances and ensuring effective/ value adding reviews with stakeholders
• Produce management accounts (both P&L and Capex) for the business area supporting on a timely and accurate basis, also producing insightful commentary and carrying out period end review meetings with budget holders
• Review balance sheet reconciliations and information/schedules for audit and external reporting
• Support and challenge of business cases (including NPV) being prepared by the projects team for Capital expenditure in our UK sites
• Business Partnering: support the various heads of department and senior leadership teams in decision making for commercial contracts, supplier tenders, business reviews, capital evaluations and ad-hoc analysis etc
• Support ad hoc requests for analysis and information from the Senior Finance Manager, Head of Finance, Directors and their direct reports
• Continually identify and implement improvements to business processes to increase efficiency and ensure all costs are recorded accurately and timely in the accounts

About you:

Essential skills and experience required

• Qualified CIMA / ACA/ ACCA accountant (Newly Qualified/+1 PQE experience)
• Minimum 2:1 degree and other strong academic record
• Experience of business partnering
• Experience of budgeting and forecast
• Experience of reporting period management accountant, analysis and commentary
• Candidates must be able to prioritise and have a flexible approach, responding to the changing nature of Ocado in a timely manner
• Advanced Excel skills

Not essential but an advantage:

• Experience of business partnering with external customers/ stakeholders
• System skills including mainstream accounting packages e.g. Oracle, Hyperion
• Google G-suite (sheets, slides etc..)
