The Role

ing to the Software Technical Lead, the developer will work within a high-performing product team on the development of world-first software for translating biosensor outputs into clinical insights and delivering those insights to healthcare professionals via simple and intuitive user interfaces.

We have adopted an Agile delivery model with a strong focus on quality and risk management standards for developing medical device software. Our immediate focus is on supporting internal R&D and developing a device prototype to support human clinical studies.

While you will be expected to contribute in a number of software engineering domains (front-end and back-end development, algorithms and data engineering), you will be well-supported by management and your teammates. Responsibilities:

• Designing, developing and maintaining software, ranging from internal tools and prototypes to tightly regulated medical device software.
• Collaborating with our product team and business analysts to decompose and estimate product features.
• Developing and maintaining unit and integration tests and adopting a test-driven design approach to development.
• Contributing to continuous improvement in software quality through code reviews, refactoring and process improvements.
• Contributing to risk and issue documentation and reviews to ensure that software is safe for its intended use and use environment.

About you

You are a passionate and curious developer that is excited at the prospect of working directly with world-class science and engineering teams to bring our company vision to life.

You have an Undergraduate qualification in computer science, information technology or engineering and a minimum of 3 years Python software and Agile development experience.

Essential requirements:

• Experience with Python data processing and visualisation tools (e.g. Pandas, Numpy, HoloViz, Panel).
• IDEs and source code management tools such as Visual Studio Code and GitHub.
• Development and integration of automated tests into a CI/CD Pipeline using tools like pytest.
• Experience working with UX and service designers
• Good awareness of cyber security and secure development practices (e.g. OWASP Top 10).
• Good understanding of development best practices including OOP, design patterns and data structures.
• Cloud-based solution development, preferably serverless on AWS.
• Experience developing against different database backends, including SQL, NoSQL, and Document databases.

Ideal requirements:

• Familiarity with Atlassian suite including Jira, Bitbucket and Confluence.
• Medical industry experience, particularly within Software-as-a-Medical Device (SaMD) development.
• Development experience with IoT devices, including a Bluetooth (Low Energy) network stack.
• Exposure to scientific research, especially in biosensors.
• Familiarity with medical software standards (IEC 62304, ISO 13485, ISO 14971)
• Familiarity with medical integration standards including HL7, FHIR and SMART
