Operator, Anhydrous Hydrogen Fluoride – Aurora, North Carolina, U.S.A.

This position s directly to the AHF Shift Supervisor.

This position is located in (Aurora, North Carolina, U.S.A.) and is not available for remote work.

What you will do:

• Ensure production goals are met while maintaining the highest quality acid production during a 12-hour shift
• Communicate, relate, receive, and otherwise obtain information from all relevant sources for the purpose of producing AHF Evaluate information to determine compliance and standards is a key responsibility of the Operator and includes following Standard Operation Procedures, Safety, and Environmental Procedures, Work Rules, instructions, and daily production activities
• Spend time monitoring the Control System to ensure quality acid production is achieved while maintaining contact with all production areas and support operators by using the company phone and radio systems
• Spend 1/3 of time on the primary task of acid production by reviewing and monitoring acid parameters
• Spend 1/3 of time on activities relating to following SOP’s to ensure proper shutdown and startup of production systems
• Spend approximately 5% of time on conducting on-site inspections of the Acid production plant and work vicinity, inspections to the production components such as, pumps, pond levels, and support equipment
• Conduct procedures during a 12-hour shift by following the outlined SOP’s covering specifics related to the daily operation of Plant processing
• Maintain safety standards, environmental standards, and product quality standards by monitoring the Control Screens to ensure proper parameters (such as Temperature, Pressure, and Flow) are maintained
• Monitor and operate the Control System by viewing numerous computer screens to ensure the maximum production of quality product
• Monitor air pressure for plant and instrumentation by ensuring the correct operation of plant air compressors
• Work safely to prevent on-the-job injuries by following, observing and enforcing Nutrien, OSHA, DOT, and MARSEC guidelines
• Monitor all tank levels to ensure proper flows and balances by utilizing Control System trends to maximize production
• Monitor the process vent system by ensuring the correct operation of the chillers, stack temperatures, and pressures of the vent system are maintained for maximum production
• Assist in plant pre-startup by ensuring all manual valves are aligned, utilities are available, and environmental compliances are met before activating startup procedures
• Assist in the coordination of post shutdown procedures by monitoring all tank levels, instrument readings, environmental compliance concerns, and proper valve alignment
• Monitor HF leak detection system
• Perform start-up procedures by selecting and monitoring the start sequence ensuring each component is operating correctly, and documentation is completed
• Perform the shut-down procedures of the plant by selecting and monitoring shut-down sequence
• Help to ensure that laboratory data quality specifications are maintained by using the Quality Control Management System to review specifications and parameters
• Record detailed information related to upset conditions by describing the circumstances of the situation and documenting corrective actions taken in the Operators’ daily log
• Follow down day work list to ensure all items are completed and safety procedures are observed during down day maintenance
• Submit Lock Out/Tag Out permits for work to be performed and follows all safety procedures
• Monitor storage tank levels containing AHF by periodically verifying tank levels are adequate and ready for loading
• Troubleshoot work-related problems by isolating the cause of the problem and taking corrective action to correct the problem
• Ensure mid-night logs and daily s are generated and data is entered on sheets then forwards results to Statistician
• Maintain communications with Quality Control Laboratory by monitoring, comparing, and prioritizing product samples to maximize production
• Contact security in the event of deluge system failure by calling security and filling out log to document that the plant deluge system had been disabled and reasons for tripping
• Communicate with key individuals regarding need of repairs to equipment by entering work orders into the EAM system using priority codes to designate the importance of the repair
• Suggest improvements in work methods and procedures
• Learn the details in all aspects of Standard Operating Procedures, safety, and environmental procedures, production, and regulations are necessary to become a competent Operator

What you will bring:

• High School Diploma or equivalent, is required
• Initiative is important and requires a willingness to take on responsibilities and challenges
• Ability to work required 12-hour, rotating shifts
• Ability to work at high elevations and in open spaces such as platforms and catwalks
• Ability to communicate with others while focusing on the primary task of producing a high-quality acid product
• Ability to wear required, company-provided Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)-i.e., uniforms, steel-toed boots, safety glasses, emergency breathing apparatus
• Ability to be clean shaven for safety reasons
• Excellent cognitive skills
• Excellent personal skills to manage the production process to achieve the daily acid production goals
• Experience with Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel, is required
• Read Pipe and Intstrumentation Drawings
• The National Career Readiness Certificate (NCRC) testing is required for all hourly applicants of Nutrien. Applicants must complete this test and meet a minimum of 4 in Graphic Literacy, 5 on Applied Mathematics and 5 on Workplace Documents in order to be considered eligible for employment with Nutrien
