Primary objective
Provide strategic leadership, management, direction and advice in the development and implementation of Budget and Finance
Management strategies, policies and procedures to the Tri-services of the Agency and to the Commissioner of Police.
Context Statement
The Northern Territory Police, Fire and Emergency Services (NTPFES) is a complex Tri-service organisation working in partnership
with the community to ensure a safe and resilient Northern Territory. The Tri-service was formally created in 1983 and provides
policing, fire, rescue and emergency services to communities in an area totalling 1,349,129 square kilometres.

Selection Criteria
Essential:
1. Demonstrated extensive senior management experience in strategic budget and financial policy roles and understanding of
strategic finance planning, principles and performance monitoring to drive continuous improvement, innovation and
accountability.
2. Extensive knowledge of contemporary budget and financial management principles and standards and in the context of
organisational fiscal efficiency.
3. Highly effective oral and written communication and interpersonal skills with well-developed negotiation skills and capability
to undertake complex budget negotiations and influence fiscal restraint through effective collaboration and partnerships.
4. Proven experience to ensure the accountability and compliance requirements for Fringe Benefit Tax (FBT), Goods and Service
Tax (GST), Pay as You Go (PAYG) and other tax reform issues are in accordance with the current legislation.
5. Extensive experience in providing departmental financial responses to internal and external stakeholders including high level
of conceptual thinking, analytical and problem solving skills.
6. Demonstrated ability to develop and manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders, interact effectively with
people of diverse cultures and manage staff through effective team work, collaboration and partnerships.
Desirable
1. Tertiary qualifications in Finance/Accounting or similar.
