About Mining, Exploration And Geoscience (MEG)

Mining, Exploration and Geoscience sets strategic policy for the state’s mineral and energy resources, gathers, analyses and disseminates geoscientific information, and assesses and determines applications for mineral and petroleum titles for exploration activities and extractive uses. About The Role

The Executive Director of Business Operations and Programs provides executive leadership to the Geological Survey branch and oversees group-wide strategic planning, cross-government coordination, and performance monitoring. This role offers strategic advice to the CEO and MEG Executive Leadership team on the evaluation and improvement of corporate functions such as finance, communications, and workforce management.

The role is responsible for shaping organisational policies to achieve optimal outcomes, whilst focussing on high-quality performance evaluation, strategy, and governance frameworks.

Key Knowledge And Experience

• Experience working with the economic, social, political and environmental issues associated with the development of resources and mining in NSW.
• Demonstrated high level research, analysis and critical thinking skills, along with the capacity to assess and distil critical issues.
• Demonstrated high level written and verbal communication skills with substantial experience in writing, preparation of briefs, development of presentation materials etc.
• Experience at a senior level in the application of best practice and innovative management of large and complex resources to achieve key organisational objectives.
• Considerable experience in leadership of internal and external stakeholder engagement and negotiation of performance expectations, service delivery standards and contracts.

Essentials

Tertiary qualifications relevant to strategic engagement, policy, communications or evaluation, and/or extensive experience at a senior level in the development, implementation and evaluation of strategic policy frameworks and stakeholder engagement

About You

Your ability to identify and understand emerging issues, competing interests and priorities to ensure that the CEO is fully briefed will be your highest priority. Strong leadership skills along with the ability to deliver consistent, value-adding business decisions whilst managing a large team will be paramount to success.

As a distinguished member of the MEG Executive Leadership Team (MET), your ability to actively contribute to strategic business planning, set performance expectations, and reinforce MEG’s vision whilst achieving results will be vital.
