Within the Corporate Services branch of TfNSW is the Transport Shared Services (TSS) responsible to provide business support to more than 26000 customers. Additionally, TSS services over 300,000 external customers ranging from Local Government representatives to citizens. Over the last year, TSS has implemented a strategy to lead the direction of the organisation towards workforce digitisation, emphasising customer experience and growing the business’s value proposition and services.

The opportunity

Right now, we have an opportunity for a Manager Accounting Operations to join us in the Corporate Services team as a part of the wider Transport Shared Services Division. This is a 12 month fixed term full time opportunity based in Burwood however with the current COVID environment the incumbent of the role will have the option of working from home.

You will be responsible for delivering a high standard of general Accounting services including coordination and management of end of month and year end journal processing and general ledger reconciliations for client agencies in accordance with statutory legislative guidelines and published timeframes. You will lead a team who will be the key deliverer of services that supports client agencies to manage their financial health and engage in robust decision making by ensuring they receive accurate and up to date information relating to their financial transactions.

Essential Requirements:

• Tertiary qualifications (Accounting, Commerce or related discipline) and full membership of a recognised professional accounting body.
• Demonstrated experience in managing a team providing accounting services in a large and complex organization with high transaction volume.
• Demonstrated track record in supporting the delivery of service improvement projects and initiatives including the automation of services and the development of a robust knowledge base
• Expert knowledge of relevant legislation, accounting standards, regulations and commercial accounting practices relating to government organisations.
• Excellent organisational skills including the ability to prioritise workload and meet tight deadlines.
• Demonstrated ability to build trust, influence and communicate effectively at both a strategic and operational level, applying a commercial and customer mindset, and creatively problem solving.

Salary and Benefits

The salary for this position is Transport Grade 9 ($135,898 – $152,204) per annum plus superannuation and leave loading.
