About the team

The Finance and Investment Division (FID) is a trusted advisor to the Transport cluster, and partners with our stakeholders to make all financial and funding considerations for our once-in-a-generation $71.5 billion infrastructure program.

We provide best in class financial services to support decision-making on transport services, infrastructure investment and delivery. FID plays a critical role in project planning and funding, enterprise planning and financial management and control.

The opportunity

We currently have an opportunity for a seasoned finance professional to join Transport in the role of Senior Financial Reporting Accountant.

The role supports the preparation of the annual financial statements in compliance with the statutory requirements, monthly reports to Treasury and all other external reporting requirements:

• Coordinate the preparation of Financial Statements and Treasury Reporting requirements to ensure they are compliant with accounting standards and legislative requirements.

• Assist with the management of financial reporting requirements to ensure all internal and external objectives are achieved.

• Participate in the provision of technical advice on financial accounting issues to the business as required.

• Contribute to the monitoring of accurate reporting of assets and compliance of balance sheet accounts with accounting standards requirements.

• Input into the continual improvement of processes and tools to provide effective financial decision support to key stakeholders.

• Provide ongoing reporting requirements to ensure compliance requirements are met and to ensure suitable management of priorities.

About you

• You are tertiary qualified (Finance, Accounting, Commerce or related discipline) with relevant industry experience, and have full membership or working towards full membership of a recognised professional accounting qualification (CPA/CA or equivalent).
• Sound knowledge of relevant legislation and regulations and commercial accounting practices relating to government organisations
• You are someone who works collaboratively with others and builds and maintains strong team relationships. The successful candidate will be committed to managing and prioritising competing demands and responsibilities in a busy and evolving environment.
• Strong communication skills and ability to build effectively relationships with internal & external stakeholders.
• High attention to detail

Salary and Benefits

The salary for this position is Grade 8A ($123,470 – 8E ($138,284) per annum plus superannuation and leave loading.
