About Intelligent Transport Systems at TfNSW

Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) is a part of the Customer Strategy and Technology division of Transport for NSW. It is responsible for providing the smart infrastructure, real-time data and operational systems required to manage the transport network. Focussed primarily on delivering new capabilities through the application of advanced technology, we are a passionate group of engineers and technologists intent on helping improve NSW through the delivery of our exciting Future Transport Technology roadmap.

Within the ITS division the Smart Infrastructure team will oversee the entire lifecycle of ITS infrastructure including strategy, design, specification, procurement, commissioning and maintenance and manage several teams to deploy a network of smart sensors that can be used to provide intelligence to plan and optimise the Transport network.

The opportunity

Right now, we have two permanent full time opportunities for Project Engineers to join us in Intelligent Transport Systems and Data team based at Yennora Office.

Reporting to the Program Manager Infrastructure Delivery, you will provide support to ITS project managers in delivering a range of intelligent transport systems projects to agreed standards, targets and business objectives.

What you will be involved in

• Contribute to the identification of appropriate technology so that the works are delivered to client’s specifications and budget by developing a sound understanding of the customer’s requirements and providing support to the project delivery process
• Prepare contract documents for ITS projects including technical specifications to engage, administer and deliver contract works and ensure efficient project delivery.
• Contribute to the oversight of nominated projects by providing project management assistance for specific projects to enable projects to be completed on time and within scope objectives

About you

• You must have a bachelor degree in Electronic Engineering from an Australian University or equivalent overseas qualifications.
• You will have a Project management qualification and/or experience.
• As an individual, you will be willing to work outside normal working hours and travel on occasions and have a current and valid Australian motor vehicle driver license.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills and ability to work collaboratively across varying levels of staff and disciplines

Salary and Benefits

The salary for this position is TfNSW Engineer Level 1 ($98,536 – $ 115,295) per annum plus superannuation and leave loading.
