Senior Finance Analyst (BP)

Location – Sydney

Ongoing Full time (1-2 positions)

Clerk Grade 9/10 Salary – $113,343 – $124,901 pa, plus employer’s contribution to superannuation and annual leave loading

Your role

Working closely with the assigned Divisional areas to support and provide high level strategic and financial advice to achieve organisational needs. There are opportunities for career advancement, working flexibly 35hrs per week & flex time.

This is a professional finance role. A key component of the job is examining the business operations of a large, complex organisation from a holistic viewpoint. Understanding the business allows you to get behind the numbers, develops your capacity to think critically, and support the decision-making process. Your talent and curiosity investigating main drivers and communicating to senior team members and the Executive ensures the job is always interesting. Your financial knowledge and experience will be applied to real-world situations, driving your capacity to seek root causes and provide solutions.

What you’ll do

As part of the Finance Business Partners team, you will support the Director in delivering the strategic finance oversight to the assigned Division(s) within the NSW Department of Justice Cluster. The role will provide an interface between the business operations and the central Finance team and other interested parties, including Treasury. The provision of high-quality relevant financial advice that supports senior staff to make operational decisions will be central to the role.

Some of the responsibilities are:

• Providing support in delivering high level strategic, tactical, and operational financial advice to Divisional executives to achieve organisational goals.
• Developing ground-up budgets for the assigned Divisions, working with the Business Partner Director and Divisional executives to align business plans to budgetary allocations.
• Assisting, and providing analysis, in the preparation of high quality, timely financial reporting for the assigned Division.
• Providing financial analysis and advice regarding the impacts arising from Divisional initiatives.

What we’re looking for

• You have comprehensive and up to date knowledge of current accounting, reporting, and forecasting requirements to deliver high level strategic, tactical, and operational financial advice to executives.
• You have proven experience engaging with managers to appreciate business needs and identify opportunities to streamline and enhance recording, analysis and reporting processes.
• You have a proven track record of stakeholder engagement with well-developed written and verbal communication skills.
• Relevant qualifications and experience.
