ROLE: Finance Coordinator

Novus is a fast-growing regional architecture firm seeking an individual with growth potential to expand its finance team in the attractive Southern city of Charleston, South Carolina.

With 80+ professional staff, our firm is large enough to provide a wide range of interesting projects and growth opportunities, but small enough to foster a warm, collegial environment. We are seeking a versatile individual with solid administrative skills. Primary support will be provided to the firm’s Finance Director. This is a small administrative team; as such flexibility and willingness to perform a wide range of duties is imperative.

The successful candidate will enjoy learning and be comfortable with playing a variety of support roles. Candidate will be able to communicate clearly and professionally, both with other staff members and with architecture clients. Good organization skills and strong attention to detail will be needed to provide effective support.

REQUIREMENTS:

• 5+ years’ experience in a professional work environment, with a responsible role.
• An Associate’s degree or higher in business or accounting field required; additional academic credentials completed or in-process is preferred.
• Sufficient Microsoft Excel skills and familiarity with Microsoft suite.
• Familiarity with Deltek accounting software is preferred.
• Strong work ethic; ability to follow direction; adaptable and flexible.
• Personable with strong customer service skills.
• Professional demeanor.
• Two references with direct knowledge of candidate’s capabilities and work performance.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Provide a wide range of support to the firm’s Finance Director, who is based in Charleston, SC. Tasks include, but are not limited to, data entry, posting invoices, and updating spreadsheets used for expense tracking.
• Provide primary accounting and financial support to one or more of the company’s branch offices, including:
• Payroll processing (semi-monthly)
• Accounts payable processing (semi-monthly)
• Post expenses, calculate labor rates, prepare invoices, and update project P&L tracking
• Process transactions relating to consultant subcontractors, including invoices, deposits, and calculating consultant liability and payment.
• Other communication, reports, project set-up, etc. as needed.
• Create/process compliance reports, including W-2s, 1099s, quarterly payroll reports, etc.
• Respond to document requests.
• Perform other administrative tasks as needed, including record-keeping, filing, data entry, setting up new employees, vendors, and clients in the company’s accounting system, etc.
• Assist other staff members as needed.

COMPENSATION:

• Based on experience and qualifications.
• Annual performance/pay reviews.
