Special Education Teacher for Ongoing Homebound Instruction
Provide 7.5 hours of instruction per week to a homebound sweet, funny 16-year-old boy with autism, mental illness, medical/ADL needs, and behavior challenges. Lessons take place in a private home designed to meet the boy’s unique needs and in the community.

As the Special Education Teacher, you will help promote the boy’s education, while having the support of a highly skilled team of professional staff dedicated to providing him with the best possible quality of life. There will be three aids available for support in the home and in the community. In addition, a BCBA works full-time with the program.

Qualifications/Education

• Ability to pass a Department of Justice (DOJ) fingerprint clearance

• Completion of a Bachelor’s degree

• Legal authorization to work in the U.S.

• Possession of a valid California Teaching Credential, in appropriate content area, as required by the California Education Code

• Possession of an English Learner Authorization (also known as CLAD or BCLAD) may be required

• Within 60 days of hire, provision of TB (tuberculin) clearance, as mandated by the California Education Code

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

• Ability to engage in a collaborative partnership with parents of students served through homebound instruction.

• Ability to work comfortably and deliver instruction in student’s homes or other settings outside of a public school facility, for example a public library.

• Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists

• Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form

• Ability to work comfortably with students, staff, parents, and the community, from diverse backgrounds, while being responsive to their needs

• Effective interpersonal, communication, conflict resolution, time management, and record keeping skills

• Knowledgeable about training in current approaches to teaching and structures for differentiated instruction

• Positive, successful record as an educator, in appropriate grade level or content area, preferred

Duties/Responsibilities: Lessons planned to target IEP goals and to take place in accordance with behavioral (ABA-based) program.

Pay: $60.00 per hour
