This is a 9 month fixed term post, you will work 37.5 hours per week , hours consisting of Monday – Friday 9-5pm. The role will require you to be managed by the OT Team leader and to liaise closely with the Occupational Therapists.

To deliver a high quality educational programme to a diverse patient population within a low secure service
Deliver a range of educational activities, including basic and higher level skills in numeracy, literacy and IT and functional skills on an individual and group basis to inpatients at Wells Road Centre.
To provide educational support to patients undertaking vocational qualifications, distance learning and Open University courses.
To undertake initial education assessment to identify learning deficits and develop an individual learning plan in partnership with patient and their named Occupational Therapist.
To be the nominated education link for an identified patient group which will include the provision of informal on-ward education sessions, education clinics, report writing for the Care Programme Approach review meeting as well as providing feedback to the multi-disciplinary team.
Active participation in department and clinical meetings to review patient progress and produce an agreed treatment plan

GCSE English Language, Math’s and I.T. or equivalent at Grade C or above.
Nationally recognised teaching qualification to degree or equivalent level.
ECDL Level 2 qualification or equivalent
Experience of teaching core numeracy, literacy and IT skills to at least Level 2, both individually and in groups.
Experience of devising and applying schemes of work, lesson plans and individual learning plans
Experience of maintaining written records and producing reports.
Able to demonstrate a knowledge of risk and risk assessment.
Experience of liaison with multi-agencies
Knowledge and understanding of current educational initiatives
Working knowledge of health and safety and risk issues
Ability to teach adults who have a diverse range of learning needs
Able to motivate individuals
Positive attitude towards mentally disordered offenders
Ability to prioritise
time management skills
Basic IT skills.
ESOL qualification
Experience of teaching adults with specific learning needs and mental conditions/ learning disabilities
Experience of teaching people for whom English is not their first language.
