Clinical Trainer – International Nurse Education Programme
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a NMC registered nurse to join the International practice education team as a clinical trainer, within the Institute of Care Excellence. The successful candidate will work alongside the education team to deliver a comprehensive training programme to International nurses who are preparing for the NMC Test of Competence.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The post holder:
Will work closely with the International Practice Education team as part of the Institute of Care Excellence to ensure International Nurses are recruited, trained, supported and proactively encouraged to acquire essential clinical skills that enable them to successfully complete the NMC Test of Competence. They will also act as a lead point of communication and liaison between the International Nurses and the Education team.
The successful candidate will work in partnership with clinical staff, wards and other nursing areas to provide support and guidance in clinical practice ensuring all International Nurses reach the required competencies and deliver high quality care at all times.
work closely with clinical areas to ensure international nurses are competent, safe, compassionate, well trained, and caring and put the patient first and foremost always. The post holder will act as the link between the clinical areas and the International Nurses providing assurances that a highly trained workforce is in place, providing information as required for written and verbal reports that may need to be provided.
Be an excellent communicator, establish positive working relationships quickly at all levels of the organisation and manage a busy workload, responding to conflicting priorities as required. The post holder will be able to problem solve and escalate concerns as required, acting as a positive and well represented role model at all times.
Have a key role in supporting the Institute of Care Excellence with widening participation with outside agencies and across the integrated care system. The post holder will support the further development of the Test of Competence programme by working alongside the education team.
The post holder will be based between all NUH sites and must be able to travel to education providers and to support corporate events if and when they occur.
The post holder must be able to work flexibly to meet the demands of the training programme.
KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide expertise, advice and practical guidance to ensure a high quality education provision for international Pre PIN nurses.
Support the international nurse education team by planning, delivering and evaluating the NMC Test of Competence programme.
Work alongside international Pre PIN or newly registered nurses to demonstrate excellent patient care and best practice at all times when in contact with patients.
To lead, plan and organise the delivery of in house training events and activities for the Test of Competence programme and other educational requirements in order to help meet current and future local and corporate needs and objectives. Provide specific training, education and support for ward staff around the expectations of the role of newly registered or Pre PIN international nurses.
To actively support the practice of International Pre PIN nurses to prepare them for the Test of Competence and the transition into a registered nurse role.
To directly work with International Pre PIN nurses in the clinical setting throughout the working day as required ensuring high quality performance in their area of work.
Maintain confidential records using a protocol template for staff meetings.
Working in partnership with wards and clinical areas to provide support to performance issues identified, providing advice and guidance as requested.
Assist the development and implementation of structured teaching programmes by contributing to regular reviews and updates. Develop, design, deliver and evaluate teaching days according to the needs of individual nurses.
Work in partnership with wards and clinical areas to support individuals, escalating any concerns around performance, training and skill acquisition to the Institute Practice Development Lead for recruitment and retention.
To adopt a flexible approach that ensures that services are delivered in a way that is sensitive and responsive to the diverse needs of staff.
To maintain knowledge of relevant legislation, policies and procedures to help ensure equality of access to training, development and education opportunities. Responding to and implementing changes to the NMC Test of Competence programme.
To positively contribute to partnership working with the Learning and Organisational Development function, and develop effective relationships with other members of the Institute of Care Excellence team and internal / external stakeholders as required.
To work in partnership, both internally and externally in relation to training. Develop links and relationships with training and education providers- HEE and regional partners.
To review the effectiveness of training and education activities using appropriate evaluation tools.
To contribute to the monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of training and provision of reports as required.
To act as advocate for training, development and education throughout the hospital. Have an understanding of emerging roles within the nursing context in order to promote these across the organisation. Participate at careers events and other Institute led events internally and externally as required.

Support the Institute Leads in identifying and implementing service improvements in conjunction with the other key members of staff.
To work with the education team to develop International Pre PIN nurses training and development.
To undertake any other duties appropriate to the grade, as reasonably required.
Deputise for the International Practice Education Team when appropriate.
