Student Support Services makes an important contribution to the NTU student experience, providing a range of specialist and professional services for students and operating in an integrated, multidisciplinary student services context across three University sites.

We wish to appoint an experienced and motivated individual to the role of Student Support Advisor (Further Education – Wellbeing, Engagement and Progression) within our Student Support Services department. This role will predominantly be supporting Further Education students in our School of Animal, Rural and Environmental Science on our Brackenhurst site.

This is part of an ongoing strategy to deliver Student Support interventions within the setting of the academic school. The SSA roles provide support to academic schools in developing and delivering proactive strategies for supporting students. The roles provide early intervention, assessment and risk management to students experiencing a range of personal and practical difficulties and experiences that may impact on their academic progression.

Educated to degree level, the successful candidate will have a good understanding of current practice and the provision of support services for students in Further and Higher education and the barriers that students may face to a successful learning experience. You will have experience of working in partnership with other professionals to find solutions to support the wellbeing, progression and achievement of Further and/or Higher Education Students (16+).

You will have strong communication, organisation and prioritisation skills and the ability to work collaboratively as a member of a team to develop and evaluate this innovative service.

Furthermore, with Designated Safeguarding Officer responsibilities the successful candidate will work closely with the Head and Deputy Head of Further Education and other staff within the School of Animal, Rural and Environmental Sciences, as well as key Professional Services, such as Student Accommodation Services and Security to ensure safeguarding cases are responded to swiftly, appropriately actioned and recorded.
