NTU is a great place to work. We take care of our colleagues with flexible and competitive packages, and the opportunities for genuine professional progress. We respect and value all our staff, because we know that it takes a strong and diverse workforce to maintain the kind of success we’ve achieved.
Our award-winning research is celebrated around the world, and we’re proud of our strategic partnerships. It’s all down to the ability of our people to shape, create and innovate, in whatever capacity they work with us. Our continued success — underpinned by the number of prestigious national awards we’ve won — has hinged on two commitments: creating excellent global collaborations, and harnessing the talents of all our people.
NTU is a university at the peak of its powers, but we know we can still go even further. Join us in our mission to become ‘the university of the future’ — seize the challenge and adventure of working with an organisation where progress never stops. This is your career, reimagined.
We do all we can to develop our colleagues ready for the next step in their careers. An exciting opportunity has opened for an experienced HR Assistant to join us to support colleagues in our academic schools. We are based in Nottingham City Centre, but a blend of on-campus and remote working will be possible.
The role is varied and interesting and involves advising managers and employees on policy matters, co-ordinating probationary periods, managing fixed term contracts and redundancies, payroll input and contract administration. In addition, you will provide support to the HR team and managers in a wide range of generalist activities including flexible working requests, redeployment, internal recruitment and family friendly policies. Experience of iTrent HR system would be an advantage as would some casework experience.
You will provide a proactive, customer focused, effective and value-added HR support service. You should therefore have a commitment to providing excellent customer service, be capable of managing a high volume of varied activities and enjoy developing professional, effective working relationships with colleagues at all levels.
The job description details the responsibilities of the role and the person specification identifies the skills, knowledge, experience and competencies we are seeking. Please use these documents to assess your suitability, and refer to these documents when completing your application to demonstrate how you meet the requirements of the role.
