Nottingham Institute of Education, within the School of Social Sciences, is a vibrant community of enthusiastic staff and students engaged in the study of teaching and learning, childhood and education. We offer undergraduate and postgraduate courses and opportunities for study across all phases, from the early years to post-compulsory education. We offer important CPD opportunities to established staff as they develop their careers. We have a growing international reputation, but we have not lost touch locally; our students and staff work regularly with children and teachers in hundreds of schools across the Midlands helping to improve practice, raise standards and change lives.
We regularly have opportunities for experienced practitioners to join our institute as hourly paid lecturers; whether your expertise lies in the early years or childhood, primary or secondary teacher education, post-compulsory teaching, or the study of education, we would like to hear from you. This is a rewarding way in which to connect your practice to the development of your profession. It provides valuable CPD for you and could be a step towards further work within higher education if that is your wish.
You should be an excellent communicator and educator, with the ability to bring the best out of others and to guide their study and development. You should have a good understanding of the context and climate relevant to our areas of focus, and the ability to contribute to high quality programmes of study. Mentoring and support for development in teaching will be provided to appointees appropriate to their level of experience.
