This position will be located Colorado Springs, CO.Position Overview : The selected Software Engineer will support the Missile Defense Advanced Simulation (MDASim) project on the Specialized Warfighter Development Contract (SWDC).
This role designs, develops, tests, documents, and integrates simulation products for MDASim using C++ and / or C# programming languages on Windows operating systems.
Essential Functions : Interface with requirements and deriving design from requirements in a model-based systems engineering environment.
Derive and allocate requirements into detailed design.Collaborates with Systems and Modeling & Simulation Engineers to ensure software requirements are met.
Determines user needs; analyzes system capabilities to resolve problems on program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques and controls.
Designs, develops, documents, tests, and debugs applications software to model various missile and air defense capabilities and concepts .
Designs, develops, and tests a framework built on .NET in C# and / or C++.Develops and references databases to analyze and validate system performance.
Performs software peer reviews, version control, automated tests, software analysis, continuous integration, and continuous delivery in accordance with DevSecOps processes and best practices.
Performs code quality management and corrects defects.Additional responsibilities could include interfacing with MDASim customers and presenting technical briefings to MDASim stakeholders.

BQs for a Software Engineer are : Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline preferred from an accredited university and 2 years of related experience, or a Master’s Degree in a STEM discipline and 0 years of related experience, or 6 years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree.
Experience developing software in object-oriented programming languages with at least 6 months experience in C++ or C#.At least 6 months experience with engineering M&S systems using an optimistic and / or conservative discrete event simulation platform.
At least 6 months experience with Agile and SAFe.At least 6 months experience with Jira and Atlassian tools for Agile software development.
Ability and willingness to travel 10% to support business needs.Applicants must have a current active in-scope U.S. Government security clearance at the DoD secret level, which is required to start.
Preferred Qualifications : Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or related field.Experience bridging requirements into software design and implementation preferably utilizing architecture models through detailed design documentation and into code.
Experience in engineering M&S systems using an optimistic and / or conservative discrete event simulation platform.Knowledge or experience in several of the following : missile defense domain knowledge, command and control, and modeling and simulation development.
Strong, written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills to collaborate effectively with technical teams and customer personnel.
Experience in software development, including analysis, design, code, test, and integration.Experience with working in a fast pace, agile environment with the ability to work on cross-function Scrum team focused on quality and capability delivery.
Familiarity with DevSecOps, continuous integration, and continuous delivery conceptsExperience with utilizing Git as distributed version control softwareExperience with Windows operating systemsExperience in Agile software development methodologies like Scrum or Kanban.
A current active in-scope U.S. Government DoD Top Secret security clearance.Salary Range : $79,300 – $118,900The above salary range represents a general guideline;
however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate’s experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results.
Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and / or personal business.
