As a Software Engineer on this team, you will support a team of engineers to d efine, develop, and deliver novel mathematical and statistical modeling and algorithm development to tackle the challenges of prediction, optimization, and classification.
In this role, you will a pply machine learning algorithms to large sets of structured and unstructured data to solve a broad range of problems that include applications in pattern recognition, target detection and tracking, machine learning and decision systems, and robotic systems.
The AI Software Engineer w orks closely with AI Systems Engineers to understand program intent, system capabilities, and output requirements.
May design software-systems, applications, and data architectures that directly implement AI techniques to support achieving better reliability, precision, accuracy, and speed to meet performance requirements.
This position will require onsite ing to McLean, Virginia or Arlington, Virginia.
Roles and Responsibilities
Participate in multi-disciplinary, collaborative teams and contribute to the advancement of novel artificial intelligence and machine learning capabilities for today’s warfighter
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deploy machine learning algorithms to both prototype and production systems
Design, develop and analyze signal and image processing algorithms for exploitation of sensor data
Implementing API and database interfaces to deploy algorithms for test and evaluation
Work on products to include written technical model documentation, s, presentations
This position can be filled at the AI Software Engineer or Principal AI Software Engineer
Basic Qualifications for AI Software Engineer :
Bachelor’s degree with 2 years of experience, a Master’s degree or PhD with 0 years of experience or a PhD with 0 years of experience in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics)
This position requires the applicant to be a U.S. citizen with an active Secret Clearance per business requirements
Familiarity with ML frameworks such as Keras, PyTorch, or TensorFlow
Experience with data analysis and feature engineering to improve AI / ML models for sensor data classification
Proven work and experience with technical writing and or documentation
Demonstrated knowledge and experience of computer vision modeling ( object localization)
The demonstrated ability to perform innovative, applied research, and to develop proper integration techniques of mission modeling applied to the battlefield
Proven work with mission analysis and integration of AI to enhance the mission
Proven ability to develop and work with software packages in a customer facing environment (on-site, collaboratively with customer team)
Proven experience presenting results and progress to the customer and stakeholders
Basic Qualifications for Principal AI Software Engineer :
Bachelor’s degree with 5 years of experience, a Master’s degree with 3 years of experience or a PhD with 0 years of experience in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics)

Preferred Qualifications for AI Software Engineer / Principal AI Software Engineer :
Proven experience with formulating innovative solutions to algorithm development, initiating and fostering client relationships
Proven experience working within AWS or other cloud environments, to include services like EC2, S3, Aurora, and Sagemaker
Proven experience working within Docker or other container architectures, to include deploying AI / ML models for inference and validation within a container
Experience working with advanced deep learning architectures for computer vision and sensor data problems, to include Transformers, LSTMs, RNNs, and others
Proven experience with data augmentation, including synthetic data generation
Proven experience in developing rapid prototype solutions from concept to design, implementation, initial testing, and integration
Salary Range : $102,900 – $154,300
Salary Range 2 : $126,600 – $190,000
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results.
Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and / or personal business.
