The Role

We are now recruiting for our Trainee Structural Draftsperson program for our Wollongong Office. Working with professional and experienced teams on diverse, challenging projects, you will be provided with extensive on-the-job training and mentoring. You will gain an informed perspective on the engineering, architectural, and construction industries, developing your skills in the latest modeling software, and will gain access to our extensive and internal Trainee Draftsperson Program.
Successful applicants will complete a Diploma in Construction Design in the structural stream at TAFE, as part of an industry recognised traineeship. The course delivery is usually 1 day a week, the other 4 days based in the office, with up to 3 of those days per week available for flexi-work/remote work. Along with an industry-competitive salary and coverage of all TAFE fees, all PPE and a white card will be provided by the company.
The Candidate
If you have recently completed your School Certificate or HSC, have started a drafting, engineering, modelling or construction course at TAFE, or have an interest in changing careers and pursuing a career in engineering drafting, your future could be at Northrop. As the successful candidate you will possess:

• Computer literacy with an interest in 3D modelling. Exposure to software packages such as the Autodesk Suite or similar is not required, but some knowledge is highly preferred.
• Interest or skill in visual design or visual art.
• The ability to work independently or collaboratively as part of a team.
• Enthusiasm and passion for the construction and engineering industry.
• Some experience in managing a personal deadline or project.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
