Northern Sydney Local Health District (NSLHD) facilities are located on picturesque and tranquil settings, located in Sydney’s prestigious North Shore, Northern Suburbs and Northern Beaches districts. NSLHD Casual Pool offers employees the choice of working across multiple sites, with exposure to a broad range of skill development opportunities.

These sites include:

Royal North Shore Hospital (RNSH) is a state of the art redeveloped and new 634 bed principal tertiary referral centre. It is one of NSW major trauma centres and is a large public teaching hospital. RNSH is situated in very close proximity to excellent public transport links, rapid access to the CBD, accommodation, recreational and childcare facilities. It is also very close to the vibrant suburbs of Crow’s Nest and Chatswood. RNSH has a commitment to person centred care, supporting our staff in developing their skills with Clinical Nurse Educators available in all units. RNSH specialities include: Surgery, Medicine, Women’s & Children’s Health, Critical Care Services – ED State Trauma Centre, Operating Theatres, ICU General, Neurology/Neuroscience and Cardiology.

RNSH is a state referral facility for:

• Burns/Plastics
• Neonatal Intensive Care
• Interventional Neuroradiology
• Acute Spinal Cord Injuries

Ryde Hospital is an acute hospital within metropolitan Sydney and forms part of NSLHD. Services provided include Emergency Department, High Dependency Unit, Cardiology, General Medicine, Orthopaedics, General Surgery, Rehabilitation, Midwifery Group Practice and a number of ambulatory services. Ryde-Eastwood has an excellent transport network in close proximity to the Hospital. Each inpatient unit is supported by a Clinical Nurse Educator (CNE) and additional CNE support across the organisation on most evening shifts during the week. We have a range of opportunities available to support you with your professional development needs. Ryde nursing and midwifery services vision is to encourage and support staff to provide effective, compassionate and innovative health care.

The Hornsby and Ku-ring-gai Health Service incorporates a multi-bedded, major metropolitan hospital providing a comprehensive range of secondary level services, outpatient, multiple community health and early childhood centres. Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Hospital has undergone major redevelopment, to the value of $386 million. Stage 1 included the STAR (Surgery, Theatres, Anaesthetics and Recovery) building with eight new operating theatres, a central sterilising service, surgical in-patient units, pathology services, kitchens and improved health information services. Stage 2 is nearing completion. The new facility includes a refurbished and expanded Emergency Department with a new multi-storey Clinical Services Building accommodating a combined Intensive Care and High Dependency Unit, combined Respiratory/Cardiac and Coronary Care beds collocated with a Cardiac Investigations Unit, Medical Imaging, Paediatrics, Medical Assessment Unit and Transit Unit. Refurbished also includes the Inpatient Units, two rehabilitation inpatient units and an increase in capacity for the Psychiatric Emergency Care Centre. We are expanding our Outpatient Services (chemotherapy, renal dialysis and oral health services), integrating Community Health Services, and have a collocated education space with the University of Sydney. Included is a great new retail space and helipad. Parking is plentiful – we have a brand new multi-storey car park bringing the total number of car spaces to more than 750.

Mona Vale Hospital is located on the Pittwater Peninsula between Manly and Palm Beach, has a vital role in providing healthcare services to the Northern Beaches community. The hospital has been transformed with new services and infrastructure. Mona Vale Hospital delivers inpatient rehabilitation and has an Urgent Care Centre operating 24/7 to treat minor injuries and illnesses. The hospital recently opened a 10 bed palliative care and 10 bed geriatric evaluation medicine unit. This provides care and services to the local community for patients and their families.

Each facility within the NSLHD has a dedicated NUM to support the casual workforce in training, education and performance development. We support our staff in developing their knowledge and skills with access to Clinical Nurse Educators in all units.

The NSLHD Nursing and Midwifery Workforce will be compassionate, competent, confident, contemporary, capable and committed to leading person-centred health care.

Provision of support to the nursing team in order to deliver a high standard of care to NSLHD patients.
