About this role

The Finance Officer is responsible for providing effective and efficient financial and administrative services in accordance with accounting standards and statutory obligations

Key Responsibilities

• Undertake maintenance of Council’s financial reporting systems, main and subsidiary, as well as Council’s asset management system.
• Participate in reviewing, monitoring and documenting internal control procedures and assist with their implementation, ensuring Council’s compliance with accounting standards and principles, and relevant legislative requirements and regulations.
• Participate in the preparation of:
• annual statutory reporting requirements;
• budgets and forecasts;
• statistical reports;
• annual financial reports and reconciliations including the preparation of annual accounts to trial balance; and
• participate in the preparation of monthly reconciliations and month end processes.
• Participate in maintaining the integrity of Council’s accounting/financial systems as required by departmental processes
• Assist in the delivery of training for financial system users and provide assistance.
• Perform, as directed, other duties that are within the limits of the incumbents’ skill, competence and training.
