POSITION SUMMARY: Within the framework of standards for center programs and NEKLS operational procedures, supervises center staff, oversees center operations and assures consistent delivery of high quality, student centered services.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s Degree with 2 years’ experience working with young adults. A comparable amount of training, education or experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications. Prior employment in adult, family or special education, secondary or alternative education. Course work or training in computer technology, internet, distance learning and instructional software. Familiarity with Northeast Kingdom culture. Detailed knowledge of center programs. Prior direct supervision experience. Prior experience in center-based service delivery. Demonstrates respect for and empathy with students and families served by the center. Demonstrates adaptability to organizational change and flexibility necessary to respond appropriately to stressful situations inherent in a manager position. Demonstrates knowledge of and delivery experience with current research and best practices for assigned programs. Demonstrates ability and experience in team building and successful collaboration with individuals, groups, organizations and communities. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Responsible for the overall operation and management of the center as well as other assigned sites, programs and staffs.
• Coordinates, schedules and oversees multi-program and multi-agency services and events sited at the center or other assigned sites.
• Responsible for supervision of center staff including work assignments, annual evaluations and professional development.
• Assures staff and center compliance with all NEKLS operational standards as well as performance, data and reporting standards for all center programs and services.
• Assures warm, welcoming center environment conducive to learning and capable of consistently meeting the instructional and support needs of a diverse learning population.
• Responsible for assuring that all center programs and services are of high quality, student centered, incorporate current research and best practices, utilize approved assessments, utilize high interest curricula and lesson plans that address student academic and life needs, blend both center based and distance instruction and promote readiness for transition to post-secondary or vocational settings.
• Continuously monitors service delivery for compliance, quality and student success through assuring consistent access to necessary instructional resources, currency with research, regular review of all student service plans to assure students receive all supports necessary to accomplish plan goals.
• Provides instruction to center students.
• Understand the confidentiality that is required.
• Must have valid driver’s license, vehicle and state required personal vehicle insurance or consistent access to same.
• Must have telephone or consistent access to same.
• Must adhere to NEKLS workplace principles and values.
• Must complete successfully the FBI Criminal Background and Adult Abuse/Child Protection Registry Checks.

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES (Duties may vary depending on assignment):

• Answers telephone, operates office machines, greets courteously students and the public, assists students and visitors as necessary, responds to student/public concerns and provides instructional support.
• Assesses instructional resource needs and drafts purchase requests for supervisor approval for instructional materials, supplies, equipment, software and related as indicated. Assures center equipment is in good working order.
• Responsible for maintenance, equipment repair, restocking, accessibility, cleaning and maintaining a hazard free, safe environment.
• Reports hazardous and endangering conditions immediately and assures staff and student safety. Develop written communication which explains the program to parents, students, employers, board members, and the community.
• Give presentations and lead discussions at local events promoting understanding of the NEKLS programs.
