Northampton County is accepting applications for an opening in its Finance Office. The Northampton County Assistant Finance Direcror acts as an assistant in the planning, organization and direction of all fiscal activities in Northampton County. Performing specialized accounting and data processing tasks and will function in the purchase, receipt, deposit disbursement and investment of all County funds as well as assisting in the compilation and preparation of the annual budget.

This position reports to the County Finance Officer and is delegated the general, day-to-day operation of the Finance Department. Employee serves as a resource and advocate for other Finance Office staff and participates in the recruitment, training and supervision of lower-level staff.

Education: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business administration or closely related field supplemented by three years relates experience and training that includes governmental financial accounting; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Valid North Carolina Drivers’ License. Background check with law enforcement is required.
