Job Title: School Admissions Manager

Grade: N
Salary: £43,857 – £47,782 pay award pending
Location: Harrogate, however we very much promote flexible working with the ability to work remotely from a variety of bases as well as from home, whatever makes sense and is suitable to provide the best service.

Hours: Full-time/ 37 hours


Contract: Permanent

North Yorkshire County Council have a national reputation for excellence and we are looking for a School Admissions Manager with the necessary experience and a variety of skills.

About the role

We currently require a high quality candidate with the appropriate knowledge and skills to become a successful School Admissions Manager. Your role will be to lead a team in managing the schools admission process, liaising with Headteachers of primary and secondary schools relating to admission of pupils in all parts of North Yorkshire.

A significant aspect of the role will be to lead on both policy and operational aspects of school admissions, and the related area of home to school transport. You will directly line manage a team of three who are engaged with all aspects of the admissions process including admissions appeals. Effective liaison with various teams across the County Council is essential to successfully deliver the responsibilities of the post.

About you

You should have knowledge of current guidance and legislation relating to schools admissions, fair access and home to school transport, and have proven experience of the management of resources in a relevant organisational environment such as a Local Authority or School.

Principally you will have excellent management skills and be an effective and confident communicator in all forms who can demonstrate strong negotiation and influencing skills in difficult situations.
Strong ICT, organisation and time management skills are essential in this role.
