Hours: 22.20 hours per week

Contract: Permanent, term time only

North Somerset’s Virtual School is seeking to appoint a Secondary Education Advisor. The staff of the Virtual School monitor the educational progress and achievement of children in the care of North Somerset Council and have a focus of raising the educational achievement of these children and young people, both as individuals and as a cohort. The Virtual School also holds the responsibility for offering advice and guidance in respect of educational matters for previously looked after and adopted children and young people and offering strategic support for children and young people with a social worker.

The focus of this role is on secondary aged students and will involve working with colleagues in schools and across other agencies to ensure that every secondary aged student is able to thrive and achieve their true education potential. Through the monitoring of individual’s Personal Education Plans and by offering advice and guidance on interventions, the successful candidate will be part of a successful and committed team, who have as their aim the provision of the best education and opportunities for our children and young people.

This post is exempt under the provisions of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions) Order 1975 and is subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check.
