Assist the Deputy Costing Accountant in the production of monthly Service Line Reporting (SLR) in line with Monitors requirements.

Assist in the production of the Trusts annual National Cost Collection (NCC) returns in line with Department of Health guidance.

Maintaining systems and processes to ensure quality benchmarking information is available and provide financial advice on the interpretation and analysis of this information.

Set up links with the Divisions to ensure full engagement of Clinicians, Care Group managers, Department heads, Information & finance colleagues in the Costing process and Service line reporting.

Communication and Relationship Skills

• Ability to communicate effectively complex costing issues/queries with non financial staff to ensure full understanding of the trusts costing requirements.
• Develop links with Clinical departments to continue to improve the quality of information used in the costing process – setting up job plans and apportionment tables
• Ability to communicate effectively with non financial staff to ensure full understanding of the Trusts costing requirements.
• Review and improve the production of Patient level costing (PLICS), liaising with Managers & Clinicians to update systems for activity collection and methods for cost apportionments.
• Develop effective relationships with peers at other NHS organisations to discuss/solve costing queries.
• Access Trust/National media to remain updated on all issues relevant to the post.
• Work closely with the Information Department and Clinical teams to ensure systems are in place to facilitate the collection of all mandatory activity information required for costing purposes.
• Liaises effectively with the Head of Costing to provide regular updates on changes/issues costing and the National Cost Collection (NCC) production.

Knowledge, Training and Experience

• Accounting knowledge acquired through completion of Professional Accountancy Exams (CCAB), or equivalent qualifications such as AAT or an Undergraduate Degree and experience within an NHS Finance Department including Management Accounts experience or an Informatics background.
• Moderate experience of working in a Management Accounts department
• Experience required to produce, develop and continually improve costing data and costing reports
• Detailed knowledge of financial systems, coding structures and reporting systems.
