In accordance with House Bill 3, the ranges above include additional compensation for classroom teachers with more than five (5) years of experience.

All salary ranges are adopted annually by the Board of Trustees. The District ensures salary placement for new hires will be based on verified years of experience according to the Commissioner’s Rules on Creditable Years of Service . These ranges should not be used to project salary amounts for subsequent years.

EDUCATION :

Bachelors Degree

Valid Texas Teaching Certificate in English Language Arts required for subject and level assigned

PRIMARY PURPOSE SUMMARY :

Responsible for creating a classroom environment favorable to learning and personal growth of every student; establish effective rapport with students; provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences designed to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical and social growth; and to establish good relationships with parents and other staff members. Enable students to develop competencies and skills to become a responsible citizen and function successfully in society.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill the requirements in student learning styles.

2. Prepare lessons that reflect accommodations for differences in student learning styles.

3. Present subject matter according to guidelines established by Texas Education Agency, Board Policies and Administrative Regulations.

4. Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that reflect understanding of the learning styles and needs of students assigned.

5. Conduct assessment of student learning styles and use results to plan instructional activities.

6. Structure, organize, refine, and finalize plans for programs, events, initiatives, student learning projects, campus trips, and convocation for upcoming school year based on prior year results.

7. Review status of testing: STAAR, End of Course Exams, PSAT, SAT, ACT, and AP Exams and create and implement plans for student interventions.

8. Plan, support, attend, and lead DATA events and initiatives. These events and initiatives include but are not limited to the following events, Magnet School Nights at Middle Schools, College Field Trips, Class Field trips, Datacom (programing initiative and recruiting event), Gingerbread House Event (Architecture Awareness and San Antonio Food Bank Fundraiser), DATA Alliance Fall Festival Fundraiser, DATA Alliance Chili Cook-Off Fund Raiser, DATA student exhibitions, UIL events, Science Olympiad Events, Weekly Thursday Night School (two hours of tutoring weekly after school), PSAT Training Sessions, Apply Texas Sessions, DATA Convocation, Core Values Ceremonies, DATA Open House, NEISD Career Expo, and the DATA Awards Ceremony.

9. Facilitate students’ work on individual portfolios detailing student learning, community service, internships, and student grade level initiatives.

10. Conduct at least one collaborative learning project per semester.

11. Monitor student performance in courses, student behavior, student community service status, and student involvement.

12. Work cooperatively with special education teachers to modify curricula as needed for special education students according to guidelines established in Individual Education Plans (IEP).

13. Work with other members of staff to determine instructional goals, objectives and methods according to District requirements.

14. Use technology to strengthen the teaching/learning process.

15. Help students analyze and improve study methods and habits.

16. Conduct ongoing assessment of student achievement through formal and informal testing.

17. Assume responsibility for extracurricular activities as assigned – Sponsor outside activities approved by the campus principal.

18. Be a positive role model for students and support mission of North East Independent School District.

19. Create classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social and emotional development of students.

20. Manage student behavior in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct and student handbook.

21. Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities.

22. Assist in selection of books, equipment and other instructional materials.

23. Establish and maintain openness of communication by conducting conferences with parents, students, principals and teachers.

24. Maintain a professional relationship with colleagues, students, parents and community members.

25. Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.

26. Participate in staff development activities to improve job related skills.

27. Successfully complete all professional development training within established timelines as required by the Texas Education Agency and the District.

28. Keep informed of and comply with state, District, and school regulations and policies for classroom teachers.

29. Compile, maintain and file all s, records and other required documents.

30. Attend and participate in faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required.

31. Maintain confidentiality of information.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

• Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community

• Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems
• Ability to concentrate, interpret policy and procedures, reason, understand verbal instructions, analyze, differentiate, memorize, read, coordinate, compile, compute, instruct, and maintain emotional control
• Strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills
• Valid Texas Drivers License with driving record that meets the requirements of the District
• Valid Class “B” Texas Drivers License (Commercial) with a driving record that meets the requirements of the District – Employee must meet the standards set by the Texas Education Agency, Department of Transportation and the Texas Department of Public Safety (This requirement is for those teachers assigned supplemental duties that require transporting students in District vehicles)
