Position Overview
Reporting to the Director of Finance and Administration, the Finance and Payroll Associate will be part of a dynamic, growing and caring team. This position is a key finance position that is responsible for entering daily financial data and transactions for accounts receivable and payable, reconciliation of invoices, execution of bi-weekly payroll and payroll related taxes/benefits processing, and assist with preparation of various financial reports.
JOB DESCRIPTION
Daily Accounting Responsibilities:
· Collect, monitor and manage, electronic timesheets for 100+ employees
· Process bi-weekly payroll using cloud based HRIS system
· Reconcile employee benefit invoices to HRIS system impacting payroll deductions
· Enter all payroll related entries into accounting software
· Record revenue received (tuition, donations, contract payments) in the accounting software
· Reconcile tuition payments to family database
· Cross train with Bookkeeper in accounts payable responsibilities
Budget
· Assist with the creation of departmental budget templates to assist with annual budget preparation
· Work with the Director of Finance and Administration in preparation of annual budget
· Monitor monthly actual-to-budget variances and reports on significant variances to Director of Finance and Administration.
Contracts:
· Create and support the monitoring of contracts accounts receivables and deferred revenue
· Assist Director of Finance and Administration to provide contract admin/program expenditure information to VP of Programs in a timely manner for quarterly and other required enrollment and reimbursement reports.
Required Job Qualifications
· Associate Degree in Accounting/Business/Finance
· A combination of several hours of college level classwork in accounting, business, finance and 5+ years of experience in a related field may be substituted for a degree
· Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office and advanced Excel skills.
· Depth of understanding experience of payroll, timecards entry, payroll processing, and reporting from payroll system.
· Able to prioritize, meet deadlines, and complete all tasks timely and efficiently
· Positive and collaborative team spirit
· Able to work independently
Additional Preferred Skills
· BS Accounting, Business, or Finance
· Experience or understanding of California Department of Education contracts and requirements
