The Budgeting and Accounting (B and A) team provides financial guidance and support to operational teams within Norfolk County Council, working to ensure that the maximum benefit is delivered for the organisation from the resources available.
We are looking for two Finance Assistant Apprentices to support this work and build careers within the organisation. One post will be to support Adult Services, and the other to support Children’s Services.
This is an excellent opportunity to join Budgeting and Accounting and enter an accounting environment. This is an enthusiastic and diverse team in a large organisation, where you will actively participate in a structured programme of apprenticeship training. You will assist with the provision of an effective financial management service to operational teams.
Finance Assistant Apprenticeship:
The level of responsibility and complexity of work will increase as your knowledge and skills increase. The level of supervision will also reduce appropriately over the training period.
These are full-time positions with provision to attend the Level 2 Accounting and then Level 3 Assistant Accountant apprenticeship training, including revision and assessments. It is anticipated that the apprenticeships will not take much longer than 18-24 months to complete. Once Level 3 is completed, you will be permanently appointed as a Finance Assistant at grade E.
The initial starting grade is C (£18,887 to £19,264); your competency and course achievements will be reviewed after 6-12 months with the potential of the grade moving to D (£19,650 to £20,043). Upon successful completion of the apprenticeship, the grade will become an E (£20,444 to £22,129).
Line management and mentoring of the apprentice will be consistently maintained with an identified manager, who will be responsible for general management, coaching and development reviews/plan.
Eligibility for entry to the apprenticeship training and the levy funding is subject to existing qualifications and suitability.
