Job Position Description:
Network Services Platform (NSP) Product Group in Nokia’s IPRT Division is seeking highly motivated Software Test Specialists to join its Software Verification Team testing cutting edge products in Software-Defined Networking, a new technology space that is revolutionizing the way networks are managed and controlled. NSP unifies service automation with network optimization and extends carrier SDN concepts to multi-vendor IP/optical networks allowing network operators to deliver on-demand network services faster, profitably and with high scalability.

Our products are built using various technologies, including:

• Java, JavaScript, JBoss, J2EE, JMS.
• Web Technologies (HTML5, CSS3, REST/JSON, SOAP/XML).
• Web application frameworks including Openstack.
• Linux/RHEL/ Solaris x86/Windows/VM.

Job Responsibilities & Competencies

• Your focus will be finding and resolving product defects in our automation-based test environment.
• Our products are exercised in our extensive lab environment using both bare metal and virtualized network equipment.

As a Software Test Specialist, you will be challenged and will be expected to:

• Understand and become highly proficient at setting up networks based on the Nokia family of products with a focus on IP networking
• Develop automated tests which exercise product functionality.
• Work closely with Developers and Product Management to jointly deliver high quality products and solutions.
• Work with new products and technologies which will be managed by our management portfolio, including advancements to Service Routing, LTE and Optical technologies.
• Augment test strategies with feedback and analysis from real-world Customer deployments.

Qualifications: (Education, Technical Skills/Knowledge)

Essential Skills and Qualifications:

• Degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
• Knowledge of network management concepts and basic protocols (e.g. Openflow, Netconf and SNMP).
• Knowledge in IP networking, familiar with networking concepts such as Routing Protocols (ie OSPF, BGP,), DHCP, RADIUS AAA, MPLS, IP VPN, VLAN, VLL/VPLS, etc
• Interest in new product development and lab setups in simulated environments.
• Strong interpersonal and communication (both written and verbal) skills are required.
• The candidate must be able to successfully work in a team oriented environment.
• Demonstrated ability to learn quickly and to work in a fast paced, innovative environment.

Additional Assets:

• Knowledge of Web based technologies and Javascript.
• Knowledge of virtualization, Openstack, NVF and related technologies.
• Prior and demonstrated experience in a Product Verification, Software Development, or IP/LTE/Optical Networking roles Knowledge/experience in the Evolved Packet Core of an LTE network deployment.
• Familiarity/proficiency with RHEL.
• Ability to produce high quality test strategies, test plans, and test cases.
• Scripting languages (ie. PERL, Javascript).
