Nightingale Hammerson is a leading specialist in the care of older people, supporting specifically Jewish residents. We have two care homes- Nightingale House in Clapham and our newly opened home, Hammerson House in East Finchley.

What will your typical day involve?
You will be supporting the organisation daily through business partnering, leading by example and being instrumental in driving change and improvements in performance, working as part of a wider team, being responsible for all aspects of Purchase Ledger management (together with certain other accounting tasks), implementing standards and delivering objectives in line with the agreed customer service strategy consistent with Jewish customs and traditions.
Duties and Responsibilities
Responsible for the purchase ledger of Nightingale Hammerson and its subsidiaries.
Ensuring invoices are processed accurately and in a timely manner.
Responsible for the accounts inbox.
Ensuring queries are responded to in a timely manner or passed on to the relevant member of the finance team.
Dealing with supplier queries and liaising with budget holders on the same.
Provide support to finance and non-finance colleagues over all elements of purchasing, in a friendly and professional manner.
Train budget holders and other appropriate staff on use of Aqilla (Finance system).
Follow up failures in the control system and provide a monthly report of the same to improve safeguarding of the organisation’s assets.
Prepare payment files (Bacs / cheques and ad hoc bank transfers) on a weekly basis.
Ensure that all invoices are paid on time, taking advantage of credit terms where available.
Maintain Residents Safe keeping accounts and recharges, posting monthly journals and responding to queries.
Responsible for processing credit card purchases and staff expense claims.
Flexible to act as back-up on all aspects of sales ledger processing in the absence of the Sales Ledger Supervisor and able to act as back-up on all aspects of banking and bank line processing in the absence of the Finance Analyst.
Assist with grants and other ad hoc reports.
Who are we looking for?
Someone with good standard of education and evidence of continued professional and personal development, with a proven record of developing and maintaining effective relationships with colleagues and experience of undertaking Purchase Ledger Functions along with the ability of reconciling complex supplier statements.
Someone experienced in the use of Aqilla and/or similar accounting software, with speed and accuracy processing invoices in an organised and methodical approach, having an eye for detail and strong organisational skills, along with passion for customer service.
Exceptional written and oral communications skills are a must as well as knowledge of using Microsoft Office to an intermediate level and the ability to work effectively as a member of a team and use own initiative
Someone with the ability to think on their feet and make considered decisions with a common-sense approach, warm and friendly with a positive attitude.
Enthusiastic, self-motivated, and committed to helping others, willing to form and maintain good professional relationships with the willingness to participate in new initiatives where appropriate.
Self-motivated, with the ability to be flexible and adapt to the changing needs and demands of the organisation.
