Construction Accountant

Job Summary

The Construction Accountant will undertake all aspects of financial management, including corporate accounting, regulatory and financial reporting, budget and forecasts preparation, as well as accounts receivables. Construction Accountant’s responsibilities will also include financial risk management.

Job Responsibilities

• Provide weekly financial updates to the executive team and/or as requested
• Monitor and provide weekly profit and loss status to project managers for each project.
• Complete and submit billings in a timely and accurate manner, prepare pay applications, change orders, etc.
• Complete and submit lien waivers as presented
• Monitor collections needs and address overdue accounts as needed, including preparing Notice of Non-Payment notifications
• Complete bank reconciliations
• Maintain job costs, printouts, reconcile to General Ledger
• Collaborate with the executive team to determine more effective ways to handle corporate funding, tax issues, and growth financing.
• Work with our accounting department to streamline account receivables and payables processes and improve the financial health of the company.
• Minimize account receivables days to improve aging summaries report.
• Act as the primary support person for month, quarter and year-end financial activities.
• Reconcile corporate balance sheets and deliver summary reconciliation reports to the executive team, including CPA as needed. Coordinate and direct the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts and report variances.
• Collaborate with the payroll specialist to ensure that all deductions and payroll activities are compliant with payroll laws.
• Oversee all activities related to state and federal tax compliance issues.
• All other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the executive team

Requirements

• Minimum of two years accounting experience with construction accounting experience preferred
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, excellent customer service skills
• Team building skills
• Self-starter
• Bachelor’s in accounting or related degree
• QuickBooks software is critical to this position, Builder’s Trend proficiency is preferred but not required
