We have a new role for a Finance Assistant at Southampton General Hospital (SO16 6YD) within the Subsidiaries Finance Management team.

This role is to support with an increase in the teams workload and they are looking for somebody to start ASAP. The booking will be until the end of January 2022 with the possibility of it being extended.

If you are not already on the bank you will need to be able to provide a reference covering a 6-month period of employment within the last 3 years.

The working hours are Monday to Friday between 8am and 5pm and is ideally 37.5 hours a week, however will consider 30 hours.

This is a band 3 role, the pay rate is £11.14 per hour.

This role is to support the Subsidiaries Finance Management team in providing accurate and timely financial information.

The role involves;

• Working closely with a Management Accountant, for journal input to the ledger system to ensure monthly reporting.
• Forwarding invoices to end users under the supervision of the Payables Supervision
• Investigate invoice queries under the supervision of the Payables Supervisor.
• Assisting cashiers with cash collection and processing of cash
• Investigate financial queries as requested by budget managers or Divisional Finance
• Production of regular monthly management reports
• General Financial Accounting duties as required; creating spreadsheets and inputting financial data.
• Raise invoices within the Oracle financial system.
• Update spreadsheets, databases and other financial models.
• Ensure outstanding debts are followed up both on the phone and via e-mail, in line with Trust procedures.
• Daily administrative support and reporting

• Has general finance / accounts experience
• Is comfortable using accounting software
• Has experience working with MS Excel
• Has a professional and friendly manner
• Is a good communicator – both written and verbal
