NHS England and NHS Improvement Hiring for Finance Analyst Job at Saltash, England Full Time

The post holder will support the Direct Commissioning finance team, across a range of areas including Primary Care, Public Health, Health & Justice and Armed Forces commissioned services.

The role supports the finance team business in driving transformation as well as value for money in planning, commissioning and service. This is a new role within the team which gives scope for it to be developed in conjunction with the post holder.

In particular, the post holder will:

• Provide day to day financial support and advice to the Direct Commissioning finance team, including raising sales and purchase orders, running daily reports, assisting with coding of non-purchase order invoices, and supporting Commissioners with resolution of financial system issues.
• Supply management accounting support to Senior Finance Analyst, Health and Justice, assisting in secondary care contract performance monitoring, forecasting and trend analysis.
• To be responsible for financial planning, monthly reporting, forecasting and financial support to commissioners for an area of low to medium value contracts.
• Investigating and responding to GP pension enquiries. Responding to requests for information (SOLO and Locum A forms).
• Responsible for set up of independent suppliers within the finance system, liaising with suppliers and other organisations (SBS and PCSE).
• Assist in providing financial management and financial reporting within direct commissioning, working closely with commissioning colleagues, providers, ICS’s and other South West Region finance teams.
• Assist in ensuring that payments on non-NHS contracts, such as GP services, pharmacy, ophthalmology and primary dental, are made appropriately.
• Support the maintenance and update of the General Ledger and to ensure that this reflects accurately and on a timely basis the financial performance of contracts and budgets.
• Ensure financial information is processed timely, accurately and in accordance with procedures to support internal reporting to managers, directors, staff and clinicians, and processing journals to support this.
• Raising of requested PO’s, monitoring, coding and processing of invoices within payment terms.
• Assist in overseeing the technical and operational aspects of GP Premises payments under the Premises Cost Directions.
• Where directed support completion of statutory and NHS accounts and returns, including agreement of balances returns, and ensure these are accurate and meet financial timescales and legal requirements;
• Pro-actively manage their own training and development requirements;
• Provide other ad hoc ledger, analysis and other reporting requirements as requested.

At NHS England and NHS Improvement we work flexibly and are currently taking a hybrid approach to our way of working with staff working from home, in the office and a combination of the two in line with business need. We have offices based in Bristol, Gloucestershire, Chippenham, Taunton and Cornwall, the successful candidates base will be allocated depending on their location.
