Position Summary
The Charge Entry Represntativewill be responsible for ensuring the timely submission of charges to the appropriate insurance carrier. This team member will also manage (1) the reconciliation of files received with submissions, (2) follow up on unpaid or denied charges with insurance carriers, (3) communication with providers when necessary, (4) maintaining frequent contact with other CBO Departments, representatives from insurance companies, Practice Office personnel, and Physicians for information/communication related to Chare Entry functions.
Essential Job Duties
Receive and process information required for submitting a third party bill. Ensure that bills are complete and comprehensive, e.g. correct form for ID numbers, validity of CPT-4, ICD-10, and HCPCS codes.
Obtain information necessary to ensure timely charge entry via multiple medias, i.e. spreadsheets, emails, procedural s, or shared files.
For electronic claims: maintain up-to-date knowledge with respect to electronic claim submission software and the various payers edits. Review and monitor all billing exception s for correction/re-submission. Ensure that all claims are submitted in the accepted timeframe.
Obtain s from third party systems for charge entry. These s may need to be manipulated and sent to another third party vendor or coding team prior to charge entry.
Receives and answers inquiries from patients and third party payers regarding charges and /or billing discrepancies.
Communicate as necessary with providers to address billing discrepancies.
Prepares daily billing activity s.
Communicates effectively with the Senior/Supervisor.
Monitor charge submission volume to ensure expected charge files are being received regularly.
Reconcile charges entered with s received.
Performs other special projects and job related duties as assigned.

High School Diploma or Equivalent

Associate/Bachelor Degree in related field

Licensure/Certifications
Work Experience
2+ years of experience in medical billing,
P
Working knowledge of full scope of full revenue cycle process; Patient registration, billing, payment posting, denial tracking/resolution, and Accounts Receivable
P
Working knowledge and experience with health care requirements, regulations, and standards
P
Computer and systems competency in the following areas: working knowledge of health systems and interfaces, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Power Point, and electronic health records
R
Working knowledge of HIPAA Standards and Policies
R
Ability to prioritize conflicting needs; handle matters expeditiously, proactively, and follow through on projects to successful completion, often with deadline pressures

PC/Data entry keyboarding skills
R
Ability to prepare business letters, proposals, summaries, and s; using prescribed format, and conforming to all rules of punctuation, grammar, diction and style; using all parts of speech

Ability to conduct training, communicate at panel discussions, and to make presentations with poise and control

Strong oral and written communication skills along with analytical skills and a high degree of accuracy

$26.32-$37.61/Hourly
