Job Summary:

The Associate Accounting position will enhance the value of Newport’s comprehensive suite of services by providing accounting consulting services, ensure all important and relevant client interactions are documented for better servicing and risk management and provide useful and accurate reports on a periodic basis to enable clients to record and reconcile their NQDC plan activity. This position also will support and work closely with other departments in presenting Newport as a premiere service provider and seek to understand and manage client expectations and needs within the scope of Newport’s systems and processes.

This position is a hybrid role and will require the individual to be onsite at the Lake Mary, FL office for training, meetings etc.

What you will do:

• Establish, maintain and enhance client relationships through frequent client contact.
• Maintain proper documentation of all client interaction, work papers, files and financial records required to establish audit trail for external audit purposes.
• Update client reporting on a periodic basis and provide clients with proper journal entries or other information necessary to incorporate financial information into client systems.
• Participate in client meetings and prepare presentation material as required.
• Develop accounting system and reporting requirements for clients on a GAAP/Tax basis upon implementation of new programs.
• For new programs, prepare customized client accounting write-ups and initial client letter delivering the first composites.
• Develop and manage NASA projects to automate manual customized reports. Perform ongoing testing on NASA reports as issues arise.

Requirements for this role include:

• CPA Certification required
• Minimum of 3-5 years of relevant work experience
• A broad knowledge of financial accounting and reporting (GAAP)
• Great Microsoft Office experience, particularly in Excel
• The ability to evaluate client specific circumstances and transactional activity, and to determine and apply the appropriate financial accounting treatment.
• The ability to handle a variety of client situations and inquires relative to financial accounting matters.
• Strong communication and presentation skills
• The ability to respond quickly and react swiftly to emerging issues and new case developments related to client issues.
• Positive, self-energized and confident traits needed to help build, foster and develop client relationships.
• Self-starter who is resourceful having extensive research skills, as well as employs the ability to effectively collaborate with internal team to resolve client issues and problems.
• Able to work in a fast-paced, demanding environment under tight deadlines.
