This post is an exciting opportunity to be part of a growing team who are committed to improving the lives and educational outcomes for looked after children in Newport. The Looked after Children Education (LACE) team sit within Children’s Services, working closely with education colleagues and other agencies in order to improve the education experience and learning outcomes for all our looked after learners. The current team has two Looked After Children Education Co-ordinators and administration business support.

The successful candidate will need to have the skills to engage, support and empower young people to aspire and achieve their full potential. Under the supervision of the LACE Co-ordinators, you will work collaboratively with a wider ‘team around the child’ involving education, carers, social workers and other agencies. You will have excellent literacy and numeracy skills, the ability to deal calmly with different situations as they arise and be able to develop good relationships with learners, carers and a wide range of professionals. The role will require face to face support with young people in schools/education settings (age 5 to post 16); co-ordinating and attending Personal Education Plan (PEP) meetings and a range of activities linked to improving outcomes for our looked after children.
