Newmont Tanami is on Aboriginal freehold land 540km northwest of Alice Springs. It is a long-life, low-cost, world-class asset in a core Newmont region. The Tanami Expansion 2 project, aims to extend the mine life beyond 2040, investing in a hoisting shaft which will increase the production of the underground mine from 2.6 Mtpa to 3.2 Mtpa. Both the successful exploration within the underground operation and implementation of the first Tanami Expansion has laid the foundation to further develop the operation to remain a major contributor to the Newmont portfolio. A fully equipped camp is located 40km from the site offering modern leisure facilities for those flying in from Perth, Brisbane, Alice Springs or Darwin.


About The Role:

An opportunity to join our Tanami HR team is currently available. Reporting to the HR Superintendent, you will implement and execute site based HR systems at the Newmont Tanami Operations. In addition you will provide advice and support to site, leaders and employees based on an understanding of departmental business needs and the Newmont work systems.

This role is fly in / fly out from either Brisbane, Darwin, Alice Springs or Perth.


In This Role You Will:

  • Promote an organisational culture consistent with Newmont values, policy and legislative intent
  • Implement HR systems, managing priorities, customer service commitments, and compliance requirements
  • Provide best practice advice and support to management and employees with disciplinary investigations, conflict resolution sessions and termination of employment
  • Ensure that Newmont Code of Conduct and Integrity policy & procedures are understood by leaders & staff through consistent provision of training and reinforcement
  • Assist leaders with performance management
  • Demonstrate personal commitment to safety, and environmental and Social Responsibility practices
  • Support injury management / return-to-work
  • Provide guidance and advice on HR Policies and procedures including but not limited to; Australia Leave Procedure, Parental Leave, Benefits programs
  • Provide advice to leaders on general employee role changes and employee movements
  • Complete exit interviews and terminations

Your Skills, Training & Experience Checklist:

  • Tertiary qualification in HR / IR or Social Sciences
  • Significant experience in a generalist role, including experience in a remote mine site
  • Ability to build effective interpersonal relationships at all levels across the business
  • Self-motivated individual with the willingness and capability to lead on HR related matters
  • Well-developed critical thinking, analytical and planning skills
  • Demonstrated competence in areas of Employee Relations and Workers Compensation legislations
  • Experience with SAP and INX
  • Ability to resolve conflict and manage investigations
  • Ability to work independently
  • Proof of current Covid-19 vaccination is required as per the NT government direction.
