Finance Assistant

We have an exciting opportunity that has arisen in our finance team, for a Finance Assistant to join the team and help us continue to deliver outstanding clinical care for our patients.

What will the role involve?

To work as part of the Newmedica finance team, whose overall objectives are to provide financial support to the Newmedica joint venture partners, Newmedica service managers and support office budget holders. A key requirement of the role is to provide accounting support to the finance team, budget holders and senior managers.

Management accounting (25%)

• Preparation of monthly multi-site management accounts to agreed deadlines
• Presentation of draft results to budget holders and finalisation of results
• Accounting for development costs and recharges to OJV’s

Other Accounting (25%)

• Production of balance sheet reconciliations for all Newmedica companies.
• Reconciling company credit card payments and receipts and posting to the general ledger.

Credit Control (20%)

• Ensuring the timely and effective collection of all sales invoices within agreed credit terms
• Liaise with service managers and the data & analytics team to resolve any customer queries preventing payment
• Produce periodic credit control reports, showing the status of overdue invoices and actions taken.

Sales Ledger (25%)

• Leading on sales ledger processing, including raising sales invoices and ensuring that customers are correctly billed in accordance with contractual terms and consistent with NHS data submissions.
• Processing sales invoices in the accounting system and managing the sales ledger including the maintenance of products and product codes.

Other (5%)

• Producing bank reconciliations
• Responding to emails sent to the shared Finance mailbox.
• Any other duties of a similar nature as determined by the Finance Manager.

What skills and experience do I need for the role?

Essential:

• Experience of sales ledger processing and credit control
• High level of drive and enthusiasm
• Good Microsoft Office skills, especially Excel.
• Excellent team-working, interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to work under pressure and provide high quality output to tight deadlines

Desirable:

• AAT qualified or active studier
• Cedar Open Accounts experience
• Experience of accounting in a healthcare services environment
• Experience of presenting results to budget holders
