The Role
The Faculty of Science, Agriculture and Engineering is seeking an exceptional Team Leader to join the School of Natural and Environmental Science’s Professional Services management team. This is an exciting and challenging role, with responsibility for managing the School’s educational services and providing comprehensive leadership and support to the education activity within the School.
You will inspire, lead and develop the Education team, having overall responsibility for ensuring all the School’s activities relating to teaching and learning are carried out effectively and with a commitment to enhanced efficiency and quality. You will co-ordinate the team’s workload, therefore you must be able to use your initiative, delegate, identify priorities and handle multiple/conflicting deadlines and be able to deliver or identify requirements for training.
You will be a proactive, innovative and highly organised individual, with evidence of successful development and implementation of policy, procedure and change processes. You will have a strong commitment to sharing best practice in a culture of continuous improvement, in addition to excellent interpersonal skills. You will have demonstrable experience of building effective working relationships with academic and professional service stakeholders and senior management. You will be a graduate (or equivalent) with significant experience of working in an education environment, with a thorough knowledge and understanding of quality assurance and enhancement standards and practice in Higher Education institutions.

Key Accountabilities
To coordinate the School assessment procedures, including convening examination boards and ensuring correct set up of associated systems and databases. To ensure documentation is accurately prepared and all marks and decisions are recorded accurately. Includes liaison with colleagues to ensure all education, learning, teaching and student experience matters dealt with in the front facing offices (e.g. PEC, coursework marks) are communicated to the appropriate Education colleagues for completion.
Responsible for defining the annual teaching and assessment calendar.
To act as the first point of contact with Timetable Services, and oversee the timetabling process in the School, ensuring appropriate information is gathered on teaching requirements to enable a smooth and efficient timetabling process.
To provide administrative support to various School Committees as required. To ensure that minutes are prepared, circulated and approved and that action points are followed up.
To act as the School’s Compliance and Attendance Monitoring Officer, ensuring the School meets the policy requirements and that accurate records are maintained.
Responsible for highlighting identified academic sessions which will be subject to attendance monitoring on relevant systems, and for the recording of student notification of absence submissions.
To lead, manage and develop a team. This will include responsibility for colleague induction, training, performance management and Performance Development Review (PDR), the allocation and prioritisation of duties.
To ensure, in conjunction with the Education Administrator, that all administrative functions relating to education are carried out effectively and to the highest standard. This will include delegation of duties to Education Administrators and Assistants as appropriate.
Responsible for the administration and implementation of the annual Singapore Overseas Immersion Programme (School of Engineering only).
Any other duties within the scope and general nature of the grade which may be required.

Essential

Clear understanding of the standards and regulations in order to answer student and colleague queries.
Working knowledge of the activities of other areas of the university relevant to school/department/work unit.
Proven written and verbal communication skills.
Works calmly and efficiently under pressure and to tight deadlines, with excellent organisational skills
Has proven ability of establishing, reviewing and monitoring administrative systems in office environments
Has considerable recent relevant administrative experience in a supervisory role within a higher education establishment or other large organisation
Experience of acting as secretary in meetings, producing agendas, minutes and actions

Experience of SAP and Module Outline Forms’ database.

Qualifications
Essential
A’ level (or equivalent) qualification plus work experience in a relevant role or broad work experience acquired through a combination of vocational training and considerable on-the- job experience, demonstrating development through progressively more demanding relevant roles.
