The Office Assistant position is based at the Family Health Care Center located in Central Islip, New York.

Responsibilities

Answer telephone, take all incoming messages and appropriately document in the electronic medical record.

• Greet and receive patients, obtain appropriate patient and financial information.
• Document patient arrival, verify patient information and obtain appropriate consents and signatures.
• Handle all appointment scheduling.
• Contact patients to follow up on existing referrals.
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required
• At least two years of Medical Office experience and an understanding of Medical Terminology.
• Prior experience with patient scheduling or working in a medical health center preferred.
• Familiarity with Medical Terminology preferred.
• Computer skills (use of an electronic medical record system required)
• Bilingual – Spanish speaking preferred
• Ability to work with sensitive and confidential information and adheres to AHC HIPAA Compliance Program
• Operating knowledge of personal computers and MS Windows applications (including Word, Excel and Outlook)
• Must be able to interact with patients, insurers and team members in a responsible, professional and ethical manner
• Ability to self motivate
