POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the general supervision from the the Chair of LAS, Campus Dean and Head Librarian, the New York Film Academy (NYFA) NY Campus Library Assistant will be responsible in performing requested clerical support for the assigned department; communicating various information regarding activities and/or response to requests; and providing for timely and accurate distribution of materials. Other duties include assisting incoming students and guests being the first face that they see.
REPRESENTATIVE RESPONSIBILITIES:
The following responsibilities are general duties that a particular employee in this position may or may not be required to perform. The day-
to-day duties required of this position may vary.
Provide circulation assistance (check in/out) including managing disputes about missing items, fines, and overdue materials.
Assist the educational community with general library support, including online library resources.
Run weekly overdue reports and contact patrons for timely return of materials.
Pull materials from the collection for classroom and instructor needs.
Perform processing of new materials.
Re-shelve returned materials.
Complete special projects as assigned.
Other duties as assigned by Chair of LAS, Campus Dean and Head Librarian or senior management.
KNOWLEDGE AND COMPETENCIES:
Broad & in-depth knowledge of Library Science.
Substantial professional experience in their the department – Library.
Excellent oral, written communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with the various constituencies of the Academy, students, parents and alumni.
Excellent organizational skills.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with administrative personnel, faculty, classified staff, students and the general public.
Ability to work independently and simultaneously on projects of varied complexity, carrying out each to its conclusion with a very high level of effectiveness.
Must possess ability to exercise group leadership skills, which emphasize collaboration, consensus building, conflict resolution, and problem solving.
Must possess ability and willingness to manage multiple priorities and projects.
Ability to foster an innovative environment that attracts high-quality faculty, students, and staff by stimulating creativity, research, teaching, and learning.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE and CERTIFICATION:
Master’s degree in Library and Information Science from an ALA-accredited institution.
Experience with library functions and systems.
Academic library experience, preferred.
Experience working in a fast pace multi-tasking results drive environment with attention to detail.
Proficient in Microsoft Suite Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; and with Google documents.

Higher Education Setting.
Outdoor/Indoor Film Set/Shoot environment.
Sit for long/high periods of time to perform various computer/administrative tasks.
Reasonable dexterity of hands and fingers to operate and/or manipulate computer keyboard and other office equipment.
Able to place and remove materials from shelves.
Subject to standing, walking, sitting, bending, reaching, kneeling, pushing and pulling, and manual dexterity.
Verbally and effectively communicate utilizing face-to-face contact and telephones.
Lift, carry, push and/or pull documents/boxes weighing up to 10-15 lbs.
Variable part time work schedule to be determined – some evenings and weekends may be required.
