JOB SUMMARY :

The Engineering Technician, Production Equipment is a member of the Sustaining & Production (S&P) team. Responsibilities include equipment preventive maintenance and repairs, supporting the S&P Engineering team on new equipment development and deployment.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

• Be responsible for performing all preventative maintenances on production equipment and document them properly in New World Medical’s eQMS (electronic Quality Management System).
• Be the first contact point for production equipment issues and resolve production stoppage in an expedited manner. Work closely with the production team on troubleshooting equipment problems, contact equipment manufacturer if in-house repair is not effective.
• Under the guidance of the engineering team, conduct pre-production prototype runs on new production line, and subsequently train production operators based on the experiences learned.
• Assist the engineering team on various testing and validation activities, record all data and results in specified forms (paper and electronic) with accuracy and responsibility.
• Provide proper communications to the engineering team on priorities and service requests.
• Be the liaison between the engineering team and production associates on production related issues.
• Properly diagnose equipment problems using a methodical approach and clearly communicate findings to the engineering team.
• Organize and keep all lab tools and equipment in good order, store all chemicals according to safety instructions.
• Ensure that all safety guidelines are employed, and good housekeeping is maintained.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES :

• Experience in working with equipment used in medical device manufacturing or other highly regulated fields.
• Must be able to work inside clean rooms for extended periods of time with full gown, gloves, and facemask.
• Experience in working in clean rooms and air cleaning / filtering equipment in general.
• High dexterity required for replacing air filters in tight spaces, i.e. plenum area above the clean room.
• Basic electronic / electrical knowledge and be able to effectively use a DMM (Digital Multi Meter) to troubleshoot equipment.
• Experience in working with small devices and components that may require extended time using microscopes and tweezers.
• Basic knowledge of inspection equipment such as calipers, gages, and comparators.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel for data entry and calculations.
• Must possess a high degree of safety consciousness and demonstrate basic safety skills.
• Self-learner that can be proficient in new technologies or equipment with minimal training.
• Must have excellent interpersonal skills.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE :

• Minimum High School diploma, Associates degree preferred.
• 3+ years technician experiences, preferably in medical devices or other heavily regulated industries.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS :

• Must be able to remain in a stationary position at least 50% of the time.
• Occasionally move about inside the office and travel to and from office buildings to access file cabinets, employee offices, office machinery, etc.

This may include, but is not limited to, bending and walking.

• Must be able to operate a computer, hand tools, power tools and lab equipment.
• Ability to listen and speak with employees and vendors. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
• Occasionally lift up to 25 pounds and transport them to other offices. This may be done with reasonable accommodation.
• Must have keen eyesight and be comfortable in working with microscopes.
• Must have steady hands and the dexterity to work on small components, sometimes with tweezers.
• Must be able to read and manually conduct inspection processes and procedures with provided tools.
