New Mexico Military Institute Hiring for Athletic Academic Advisor Job at Roswell, NM Full Time

About New Mexico Military Institute: NMMI is a state-supported, co-educational college preparatory high school and junior college, complete with Junior and Senior ROTC programs. With a Corps of Cadets numbering up to 1000 young men and women, NMMI provides an accredited college preparatory curriculum on the high school level and a transfer junior college, operating within a conductive military environment.

Position: NMMI seeks a full-time, 12-month Athlete Academic Advisor to provide academic advising and support to college cadet-athletes; ensure cadets have guidance to meet all NMMI, Conference, NJCAA, and NCAA eligibility requirements; monitor and report the academic progress of all assigned cadet-athletes from matriculation to graduation; collaborate with other college academic advisors who may be advising cadet athletes; help guide cadet-athletes in their choice of careers and transfer schools; and work collaboratively with Toles Learning Resource Center faculty and staff to provide needed support and services. Position start date is 5 July 2022. The salary range for the Athlete Academic Advisor position is $45,000 – $51,000.

Responsibilities:

• Advise, tutor, and mentor cadets-athletes
• Provide opportunities for cadets to learn about college and career options
• Cooperate with academic advisors and Commandant’s staff to ensure student success
• Teach junior college courses
• Assist in updating NMMI Cadet Academic Services pages
• Manage online orientation program
• Maintain a Professional Development Plan
• Abide by institutional policies

Qualifications:

• A bachelor’s degree and ability to complete a Master’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university within 5 years required
• Master’s degree preferred
• Prefer professional experience working with student-athletes, educational plans, NCAA, NAIA, and college athletic conference eligibility and transfer requirements
• Prefer experience working with NJCAA rules and regulations
• Prefer coursework and experience in academic advising
• Prefer experience teaching at high school and/or college level
