New England Nonwovens Hiring for Plant Engineer at West Haven, CT Full Time

Job Summary:

The Plant Engineer oversees the electrical and mechanical systems of the plant, from installation to troubleshooting. This position is responsible for improving the plant’s efficiency, upgrading to new technologies, repairing equipment, and reducing manufacturing issues. Conducting routine tests, electrical control troubleshooting, evaluating plant machinery, and fixing problems promptly are expected in this role. This position requires physical work on the machines, the flexibility to work 40+ hours per week, and on call hours/weekends as required.

Responsibilities:

• Compile plant data to generate s in compliance with state and federal regulations for ing.
• Keep detailed records related to equipment/electrical upgrades, breakdowns, and all other maintenance.
• Stay informed concerning new manufacturing technologies and equipment in order to manufacture and reduce cost through efficiencies.
• Ensure vendors/subcontractors are manufacturing products according to product specifications.
• Attend staff meetings, in-services and other plant activities as needed.
• Maintain and develop plant drawings, standards, and procedures as appropriate.
• Train the necessary staff on any changes to existing or new equipment.
• Ensure that preventive maintenance is routinely performed and recorded.
• Maintenance of tools and equipment to promote safety and proper work habits by staff.
• Serve as project manager for large scale projects with minimal support.
• Prepare and revises chemical, material, and service contract specifications, reviews bids, recommends awarding of contracts, and acts as project manager representative of contracts.
• Work together with other technicians such as the mechanic and line operators.
• Evaluate the need for new equipment to maintain plant proficiency and requisition materials, tools, chemicals and equipment as required by the task for the plant.
• Recommend allocation of budgeted funds and request approval for major expenditures, authorize petty cash outlays and payment requests upon approval, and initiate field purchase orders.
• Participate in the long-range planning, organization and direction of activities relating to the operation and improvements to the plant to maximize performance while minimizing cost and environmental impact.
• Perform other duties as assigned or required.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree or Graduate’s Degree in an engineering discipline.
• Meticulous attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Comfortable with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Experience with the following:

electrical troubleshooting
electrical controls
VFDs
DC motors and drives
Relay logic
Mechanical knowledge

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to meet physical demands such as, standing for long periods of time and able to lift 50lbs

Must pass annual hearing tests. Score must be above 71dB in both ears.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $85,047.00 – $98,733.00 per year
