The Logistics / Yard Lead is responsible for the timely execution of all shipping and receiving functions. All standards will be met through effective communication, policy adherence, and high-level planning and organization.

This individual will focus on safety, quality, and productivity.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential duties and responsibilities of a Logistics / Yard Lead include but are not limited to the following :

• Unloading, receiving and organization of goods. Verification of goods versus shipping documents.
• Putting away of finished goods inventory and organization of inventory area.
• Organization and housekeeping of inventory area using OPEX / LEAN methodologies.
• Digital record keeping of inventory movements and transactions.
• Adhere to FIFO inventory procedures.
• Communicate with Production Supervisor when there are inventory discrepancies.
• Maintain all packing slips, shipping documents, bill of ladings and other documents of record.
• Communicate with drivers and adhere to delivery timelines.
• Perform regular inventory counts.
• Prepares shipments for commercial transport.
• Inspects shipments for damages or defects; records discrepancies or damages and notifies supervisor.
• Follows established departmental policies, procedures, and objectives, continuous quality improvement objectives, and safety, environmental, and / or infection control standards.
• Regular and consistent attendance at job site and performance of other tasks as needed.

Requirements :

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Oversees additional Logistics / yard workers.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Must be Forklift certified or must be able and willing to be certified.
• Must be physically able to work standing and walking for the duration of the shift.
• Must be proficient in use of MS Office programs (Outlook, excel, word)
• Must be willing to work in both an indoor and outdoor environment
• Must be able to follow simple verbal and / or written instructions.
• Must be willing to work overtime.

EDUCATION AND / OR EXPERIENCE

High School diploma or equivalent.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Must be able to read, speak and understand the English language.

OTHER DESIRED SKILLS

• Familiarity or proficiency with ERP / Warehousing software
• Familiarity of LEAN, 5S principles
• Ability to prioritize work.
• Ability to work with little or no direct supervision.
• Ability to analyze and solve problems.
• Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
