My client is an import business based on the north side of Brisbane with seven locations on the eastern seaboard.

What you are great at:

You will have proven experience as an Assistant accountant within a fast-paced and changing environment. As well as having a complete understanding of the core accounting principles, you will be a strong communicator with great attention to detail.

Your new role involves:

• Perform end-of-day, end-of-week and end-of-month on rostered days; provide financial and administrative support within the finance team; prepare general journals for shipments accounts and produce monthly rebates for debtors or ad hoc reports.
• Manage payroll ready for payment of wages every second fortnight for 80 people; reconcile PAYG, superannuation and payroll tax in accordance with legislative requirements; update approved leave requests in Leave Calendar and payroll system.
• Calculate costing and prepare Cost Sheets for all shipments; liaise with International suppliers and freight suppliers to ensure the shipments arrive timely.
• Assist external auditors to perform their duties and ensure all information required is available in the appropriate time frames.
• Complete the day-to-day management of all payment cycle activities, including verifying and reconciling invoices quickly and efficiently; process and verify data is recorded accurately and in a timely fashion.

Getting down to the ‘nitty-gritty:

• Must have payroll experience for 80+ employees
• A qualification in accounting is preferred.
• Great attention to detail and accuracy
• Intermediate to Advanced Microsoft Excel skills plus Xero
• Excellent communication and organisational skills
• Ability to work under pressure and multitask.
• Ability to follow procedures.
• Capability to work autonomously.
• A positive attitude all day, every day
