Position Summary

We are currently recruiting for a focused and talented individual to join us as Internal Controller. Reporting to the Accounting & Decision Support Manager, you will manage the internal control framework for Nespresso UK & Ireland businesses, driving effectiveness, awareness and compliance.

A day in the life of an Internal Controller …

The main focus of this role will be to provide assurance to management that operational and financial reporting controls are working in accordance with the internal control framework. As part of your role, you will:

• Work with the business to embed a culture of risk and regulatory requirements awareness and control.
• Conduct the yearly risk and control self-assessment for the Nespresso business in the UK and Ireland in an accurate and timely manner, ensuring that the requirements of the NIBS (Nestlé Internal Balance Sheet) certificate are met
• Follow-up on action plans to ensure that control gaps identified get resolved in a timely manner
• Coordinate internal audits as required
• Align internal and external auditors with the business to ensure that all control deficiencies are resolved via collaboration with the appropriate internal stakeholders and to further identify process improvement opportunities based on audit results.
• Review and challenge the identification, evaluation and prioritisation of risks. Conduct ad-hoc risk & control assessments/mini-audits of head office, retail operations and warehouse processes in line with risk assessment and prioritisation
• Maintain strong IT control environments in accordance with the Nestle control framework (access controls, SODs, critical access). Monitor conflicts in segregation of duties and mitigate any risks arising from conflicts in a timely manner
• Recommend tools to improve the Internal Control environment by supporting management in seeking out effective solutions (through automation and other preventive solutions)
• Assist in the coaching/training of colleagues where appropriate, providing advice, guidance and support

What will make you successful

• University degree in finance, accounting or auditing
• Prior experience in external Audit or Internal Audit/Finance & Control in a top-tier FMCG/ retail/e-commerce organisation or equivalent.
• Good understanding or exposure to RCSA (Risk Control Self-Assessment) and/or audit methodology
• Good understanding and experience of working with ERP systems
• Proficiency in Excel and Power BI essential
• Good conflict management, negotiation, communication and influencing skills
• Ability to understand how decisions impact the wider business strategy and to provide value added insights
• Great communication skills that enable influencing at all levels whilst being able to develop positive cross business relationships.
• Flexibility when prioritising work in an environment that is very often ambiguous
• Continuous improvement mindset
