NRS’ portfolio of omni-channel marketing solutions includes Checkout 51. Checkout 51 is a mobile app that allows consumers to receive cashback via digital rebates when they purchase in
stores, at the gas pump, or online.
We are looking for an enthusiastic software engineer to join our Android team. In this role, you will get a chance to work on a small, fast-paced team, and have an outsized impact on the direction of our technology and product.
You’ll be responsible for:
● Enhancing Checkout 51’s Android App with new features and functionality
● Writing tests and performing code reviews to ensure that we’re shipping reliable, readable, and reusable code on a daily basis
● Working with the lead developer on software design patterns for the app, and refactoring towards those patterns.
● Identifying technical debt and working to address it.
● Working with your peers in the engineering team at Neptune Retail Solutions to improve our software development practice as a whole
What we’re looking for:
● Experience with modern Android Development. Our app makes use of:
o Kotlin / Java
o Coroutines
o Generics
o API Development
o Lifecycles, MVVM
o Jetpack
o Retrofit, GSON,
o JUnit & Espresso,
o Gradle (Command line familiarity a plus)
● Familiarity with CI/CD and Mobile Analytics tools. Our Team uses:
o GitHub
o CircleCI
o Firebase
o Mixpanel
● Familiarity with agile project management techniques and tools. Our team uses:
o JIRA
o Scrum – we are in the process of refining the specifics of how we practice this.
o Story Estimation
o Confluence
● Knowledge of Material Design & Mobile Interaction Guidelines.
o We use Figma as our tool for collaboration with the UX team.
● We are open to considering candidates of all levels of experience, and academic backgrounds, but we believe that 3-5 years of industry experience building production Android apps would be necessary to succeed in this role.
